United Way Pueblo County (UWPC) announces the renewal of two Community Investments grant opportunities for Pueblo County 501c3 nonprofit organizations for 2026-2027. Organizations may apply for one or both grants listed below by submitting the Part 1 Application. Apply Here

Community Impact Grant

Qualifying organizations address a pressing, unmet need that can demonstrate a significant, measurable impact in one of United Way’s three Impact Priority Areas:

Economic Mobility & Opportunity: Provide support and resources that help empower people and families to improve their financial capability, health, and independence.

Community Resilience: Strengthen support systems and building overall community capacity to respond to challenges, recover from adversity, and promote well-being.

Youth Success: Create pathways for young people to thrive by improving educational outcomes, supporting youth development initiatives, and building social connections.

Funds may be used for general operating expenses or program specific expenses.

Range: $10,000 up to $30,000.00.
El Pomar Foundation Community Problem Solving (CPS) Grant

Qualifying programs provide direct service for basic needs: food, shelter, utilities, etc. for the homeless and indigent.

Range: $2,500 up to $10,000.
Volunteer Opportunity: 2026-27 Community Investments Committee Member
UWPC is looking for passionate individuals to join our Community Investments Committee. As a member, you will play a key role in overseeing UWPC’s external grantmaking efforts, building relationships with community partners, and advocating for initiatives that align with community priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and evaluate grant applications
- Participate in interviews/site visits
- Make informed funding recommendations to the UWPC Board
- Attend meetings and trainings
- Serve as an ambassador and advocate for UWPC in the community

Emergency Food & Shelter Program
Since its establishment in 1983, the Emergency Food and Shelter Program has provided $6.6 billion in federal funding that has enabled local social service agencies to provide food and shelter to individuals and families who need assistance. Federal legislation established an EFSP National Board, which is chaired by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and includes representatives from some of the nation’s leading community-serving organizations, including UWW. The EFSP National Board develops the formula to determine how funds are allocated to localities.
On January 27, 2025, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) released a memorandum to federal agencies, requiring a temporary pause on all activities related to obligation or disbursement of all federal financial assistance, and other relevant agency activities that may be implicated by the recent Executive Orders. Although OMB rescinded the memorandum, EFSP has not been allowed to release payments to local service providers. The program is being reviewed within FEMA to ensure it complies with the Executive Orders and Department of Homeland Security guidance. Until clearance is received, EFSP cannot draw down funds from FEMA’s payment system to pay agencies participating in the program.
