Meet Mario!!

Mario Gernazio Jr.. is the Director of Resource Development for United Way of Pueblo County and he has held the role since September of 2022. Originally from Las Vegas NV, Mario has lived in Pueblo on and off for the last 35 years. After high school, Mario joined the United States Marine Corps, but unfortunately, his military service was cut short due to serious injury. He then decided to earn his bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from Colorado State University Pueblo, graduating in 2004. Before joining the UWPC Team, He spent the previous 10 years serving in nonprofit healthcare/hospice work, specifically in Marketing and Business Development. Prior to that Mario spent seven years as a sales leader for the The Walt Disney Company and was based in Anaheim CA and serving the Parks and Resorts Division on the West Coast. In Mario’s current role, he works with partners throughout the community on workplace campaigns, sponsorships, legacy giving, etc.

Mario has been married for 25 years to his wife Ginger and they have three adult children, Liam, Theo, and Bella, two daughters-in-law and they’ve just welcomed their first grandchild, Cale, in August of this year. When Mario's not out building relationships and raising money for United Way, you can find him co-hosting the award-winning series of podcasts: The Around the Horns Network, announcing at the Pueblo Bulls hockey games or watching his Vegas Golden Knights play. Mario enjoys traveling and spending time with his family and sharing with them his lifelong passion for Disney, Star Wars, Comic Books and Pop Culture.

Some fun facts about Mario:

Mario's response to some fun questions:

If I had a superpower it would be telepathy/mind control.
If I were a pasta shape I would be tortellini because it's misshapen, unique and cheesy, just like me!
If I entered a talent show I would sing and play acoustic guitar, covering a song from the band, WILCO.
The most inspiring thing about my job is seeing how many people in our community truly care about helping and supporting those in need and not just saying it, but by giving their time and their money to UWPC to help those that are struggling. It takes a village…and this village we have here in Pueblo is special.
